January 27th, 2012 – Jim Adkins Has Been Lying to You for Years

This morning’s edition of The Equivalent is now extremely available for download at the following names: Craig and Jeff.  It’s also available for streaming at the two following flash players:

Hour 1:

Hour 2:

Featured this morning were songs by Primus, Squarepusher, Hella, Bonga, Pantera, and the Makers of NBA Jam along with a fairly unhinged statement by LSU’s head football coach Les Miles.

WCBN turned 40 this past Monday.  We didn’t really do too much about that.

We celebrated Michigan’s 175th Anniversary of Statehood by highlighting some of the most important moments of the that period of time.

Creation Science is not and will never be science.

Toto’s “Africa” was made much, much better with a collection of Travis Barker fills as played by me.

Guy Fieri starred in an episode of Dead Air.  He didn’t talk.  I consider this progress.

Jimmy Eat World’s “The Middle” was deconstructed and revealed as the horrible lie that it is.  Unfortunately, due to massive time-constraints brought on by Chet’s obscenely piss poor production skills, Kanye West’s “Stronger” and Collective Soul’s “Shine” were not addressed in this week’s The Top 5 Worst Songs Ever Written.  Luckily no one at the station has listened to my show yet, so The Equivalent will be back next week to kick out those last two kidneys.  If you have any songs that you have an irrational hatred for pass them along, and I’ll include them in The Top 5 Worst Songs Ever Written at some point in the future.

Additionally, next week’s Mattblock is still wide open for requests, suggestions, and other sentence-shaped words.  I enjoy taking requests before the show, but kind of hate taking them during, so make my life easier and do it now.

The Equivalent – WCBN’s answer to the notion of meaningful content.
