Updating blogs is a lot more fun than it looks.  In order to keep the joy from going stale, I’ve decided not to do it very often.  Like heroin.

I was doing a lot of heroin in the studio yesterday.  By heroin I mean music.

The show was eminently average.  I played a few songs I really enjoyed, but got in a rut in a few places.  I think I need to buy some more CDs or something.  Everyone else who comes in to do shows always seems to have stacks of material to choose from.  I have a phone with an 1/8th inch output.

Highlights of the night:

I played a Postal Service song to the surprise and disappointment of former production director Eric Lapointe.

Popped off some fresh new CM Punk Promos and mixed in a little Chris Jericho as well.

Disparaged Wisconsin the only way I know how: poorly.

I think I kept the show progressing with the non-music content.  I still need to think of more fun ideas in that realm, though.

Eh-eh-eh…. EVER… be the same… a-GAIN

I have a tendency to stick with an artist or album from week to week if I like the results I get the week prior.  I’m not sure if this is a bad thing, but it feels like my show could get stale to my regular listener.

There was more than one moment where I threw on a longer song just because I was tired and didn’t want to move for an extra minute.  It seems like the end of my show always turns into a self-parodic lullaby.  If there’s anything I need to plan out in the future, it’s my last half hour.

I still can’t fucking speak clearly.  I just want one show (one, godamnit) where I can make it through my intro or the news without my s’s sounding like they’re coming out of a broken air hose in the rain and without me stuttering over every other word.  If I can’t say the joke, then I become the joke.  And I’m not funny.

Rory showed up just close enough to on time that I didn’t get to play the Tenchi Muyo Christmas Album that was sitting on top of the stack of Christmas shit in the studio.  That was going to be horrible.  Maybe next week.

Next week will be a Christmas show.  I don’t have any original ideas, and I don’t see a reason to make an effort to change that just because the holidays are coming.
